Cheek implant or cheek augmentation surgery adds volume to areas of the face that lack definition. The surgery is done by insertion of silicon implants giving the face a more balanced look. It is a common practice to combine it with a nose surgery or Rhinolasty. The implant can be inserted either in the upper cheek or mid cheek depending on the patient's facial features- whether he or she needs to have high cheek bone or needs to fill sunken face.

The surgery is usually done under general anaesthesia and takes about an hour to an hour and a half.

The surgeon begins by making an incision-the usual choice for incisions for cheek implants is either in the natural lines of the lower eyelashes to avoid any scars or inside the mouth at the junction of gums and lips. There are no chances of any scarring in the latter case.

A pocket is then created in the facial tissue and the implant is inserted and the incision sutured.
