Eye Lid Surgery India
What is Blepharoplasty/ Eyelid Surgery?
Blepharoplasty is a procedure to remove the excess fat, along with skin
and muscle, from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery is the
second most common aesthetic procedure performed by plastic surgeons.
Eyelid Surgery is mostly done in conjunction with Face Lift,
Rhinoplasty or Brow Lift surgery.
Why is Eyelid Surgery performed?
The aging eye often results in a tired, angry, or sad appearance.
Eyelid surgery is commonly done for aging eyes, but in some people the
traits are inherited requiring surgery at a younger age. Eyelid Surgery
is also performed to remove puffiness or bagginess from under the eyes
and can also correct drooping upper eyelid. Eyelid Surgery also
improves vision if the skin fold around the eyes interfere with vision.
Are there any contra indications to performing Eyelid Surgery?
Thyroid problems like Grave's disease or hypothyroidism, high blood
pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, glaucoma, retinal
detachment or dry eyes due to insufficient production of tears (Dry
Eyes) are the conditions in which Eye lid surgery is not advisable.
What is the outcome of Eyelid Surgery?
The outcome of Eyelid Surgery is excellent. The results from this
procedure will last for years or may be permanent however; they will
depend on your lifestyle and environmental factors. The changes in your
looks will take several days after the procedure to become completely
evident. The scars from Eyelid Surgery heal gradually but do eventually
fade to a thin line which may not be too conspicuous.
How is Eyelid Surgery done?
Eyelid Surgery is performed under local anesthesia with intravenous
sedation. Depending on the number of eyelids getting done, Eyelid
Surgery may take any where from 2 - 4 hours.
An incision is made below the eyelashes in lower lid and along the
creases of upper eyelid by the surgeon. These incisions may extend to
the outer corner of the eyes. The skin of the eyelid from the
underlying fat and muscle is dissected and separated, remove excessive
fat and trim away excessive sagging skin and tighten the eye muscle.
The incision is then closed with very fine sutures so that it results
in minimal scarring after Eyelid Surgery. A trans-conjunctival approach
for Eyelid Surgery or Blepharoplasty may be used so that no external
incision needs to be made.
What is the after care like?
You will spend the first few hours after Eyelid Surgery in the
recovery room under observation to watch for any post-operative
complications. You will be allowed to go home the same or the next day
following your Eyelid Surgery.

How long the recovery period is and what precautions do I need to take after the Eye lid surgery?

weeks following the Eyelid Surgery. You should avoid physically
strenuous activities like playing sports, bending and lifting heavy
objects for about 2 weeks following the Eyelid Surgery.
