Laser Skin Resurfacing

Who will a Laser skin resurfacing/ rejuvenation benefit?

The Laser skin resurfacing/ rejuvenation is used for both reversing the clock on your face and removal of scars and marks. It is useful for:

•  minimizing the fine lines around the mouth and eyes

•  rejuvenating and revitalizing the skin

•  removing the unwanted patch or layer

•  treatment of troubled spots such as birthmarks, age spots, tattoos and scars

•  Gives new cells form a tighter, smoother, healthier layer of skin

What are the advantages of Laser Skin resurfacing?

•  The procedure is painless, bloodless and requires no recovery time.

•  Laser selects only the specific area, it does not affect the surrounding skin and is thus completely safe

•  Non invasive procedure, thus there is no incision or scarring.

•  The procedure is very precise

•  Results in tighter, smoother, healthier skin

How is Laser skin resurfacing done?

The procedure is done on Outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation to keep discomfort to a minimum. The process usually takes approximately one to two hours depending on the area to be treated

The laser is passed back and forth over the skin until the deepest level of the wrinkles, or the scar or tattoo to be removed is less visible. If the area to be treated is especially deep, the surgeon may recommend that treatments be divided into two or three separate stages.

After the treatment, your surgeon will choose to apply a layer of protective ointment or bandage to the treated area.

What is the after care and how long is the recovery period?

Though laser treatment in a non invasive procedure, it removes layers of the skin, and you will thus require bandaging the area after the procedure.

Your face will likely feel sore and swollen after the procedure. The skin might burn or weep after 5-7 days after the procedure. The bandages will be removed after five-six days. A layer of healing ointment will be applied and you will be given instructions about washing your face with prescribed soaps.

Your skin will likely form crusts which should never be picked or touched, since this may cause scarring on the new skin forming underneath. About ten days after the surgery, your face should be crust-free, though some redness will still remain which would also slowly go. You will be strongly advised to stay out of the sun for up to six months following laser skin treatment.

In order to get the best results from your procedure, it is very important to follow your doctor's instructions. The complete result of your laser skin rejuvenation will likely be visible in about three months. Your new skin will appear fresh, unblemished and more youthful.

Is the Laser Skin treatment safe?

Yes. Lasers and advanced light systems have been used safely on millions of patients of all ages worldwide. These systems treat only the targeted lesions (spots), leaving the surrounding tissue intact. There are many benefits to laser surgery including little if any pain, no needles for most patients, less bruising and swelling and once removed, the lesions rarely return. The risk of scarring or discoloration is minimal
