  • Surgical Expectations

The extent of the issue and the type of surgery that needs to be done impacts the overall cost of the procedure. It depends on the expectations that the patient has along with the facial structure, goal of surgery, and patient’s general health.

  • Surgical Facility

Having your Bichectomy surgery in an accredited surgical facility by skilled and qualified medical staff is a critical factor. Moreover, the geographical location of this facility in India also affects the quote. But, IndiCure provides you with a projected estimate that will be all inclusive and affordable.

We at IndiCure, understand that you travel with a budget in mind and do not like to be greeted by surprises after arrival in India. We thus club all these expenses and give you the package cost that is inclusive and affordable at the same time.

Your case manager shall give you an estimated cost of your surgery after discussing your medical reports with the surgeon. The final cost, however, shall be confirmed after your consultation with the Plastic Surgeon.

What is Bichectomy ?

A bichectomy or buccal fat removal removes the buccal fat pad, a naturally-occurring pad of fat in the cheek hollow area. The size of the buccal fat pad varies from person to person, and the buccal fat pad in each cheek may be different sizes.

The goal of bichectomy or buccal fat removal is to make the cheeks look thinner, specifically in the area of the cheek hollows. Although a face that is naturally soft and filled out is considered youthful, some people find that their face feels too full, even chubby. Bichectomy or buccal fat removal is an excellent solution for people looking to reduce the width of the round face.

Many people with larger buccal fat feel that their face looks round or too wide and the procedure is helpful to make their cheeks appear smaller. Buccal fat pad extraction surgery is typically not performed in people with thin, narrow faces as removal of the fat may cause the face to look more gaunt with age.

The surgery can be done alone or with another form of plastic surgery, such as:

  • facelift
  • rhinoplasty
  • chin implants
  • lip augmentation
  • Botox injection

Am I a good Candidate?

You are a good candidate for a bichectomy or buccal fat removal if:

  • You dislike the fullness of your cheeks.
  • You have pseudoherniation (small rounded fat mass in the cheek due to weakbuccal fat pad).
  • You’re seeking facial feminization surgery.
  • You’re in good physical health.
  • You have realistic expectations.

How is Bichectomy Procedure done?

Step 1

A buccal fat removal surgery requires an incision on the inside of the mouth, on the inner portion of your cheek. Occasionally, the buccal fat pad may be removed during a facelift and not necessitate an incision inside the mouth.

Step 2

Sutures close the incisions inside your mouth. Typically, these sutures are absorbable, but each plastic surgeon performs the surgery differently.

What is the Recovery after Bichectomy Surgery?

After the surgery, your face will be swollen and you may experience bruising. Both should diminish as you heal.

Full recovery usually takes about 3 weeks.

You can expect to see results in several months. It takes time for your cheeks to settle into their new shape.

What Results Can I Expect from Bichectomy Surgery?

The procedure will improve the V-line face shape from its O version. The buccal fat removal surgery will always accentuate the facial features by removing extra fat from the cheek line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, buccal fat removal is a permanent solution to reduce the size of your cheeks. Once fat is removed from any area of the body, it usually does not return, and the same goes for buccal fat removal, unless you put on an extraordinarily large amount of weight.

The most frequent and dangerous mistake many people make is to go to a dentist for buccal fat removal procedure. Though many dentists can do this for a cheaper price, it is just not a good idea to risk your face with a person who is not qualified to do the procedure. We advise you to choose a qualified plastic surgeon for the procedure.

The procedure shall be done under anesthesia or sedation. You would face some discomfort after the procedure which shall be well controlled with pain medication.

If you are concerned about the shape of your face and the size of your cheeks, the surgery will give you a slimmer face.

However, undergoing any plastic surgery procedure is a very personal decision. We can help you connect with an experienced and board certified plastic surgeon, who would explain the procedure, its pros and cons in detail. This will help you make an informed decision.
