Hymenoplasty or hymen restoration surgery or hymen repair surgery popularly known as Revirgination is the operation to get virginity back. It is a simple plastic surgery procedure used for reconstructing the hymen of women who need to have their virginity restored for cultural, social and ethical reasons.
Hymenoplasty or hymen repair surgery takes somewhere around 30 minutes to an hour, performed while the patient is under local anesthesia with sedation or under general anesthesia. It is usually performed on a Daycare basis, the patient can leave the hospital the same evening.
| Surgery Time | 30 Min - 1 Hour |
|---|---|
| Anesthesia Type | General Anesthesia |
| Hospitalization | Daycare |
| Stitch Removal | Stitches dissolve after 2-3 weeks |
| Initial Recovery Time | No downtime, routine activities can be resumed the same or next day, strenuous activities to be avoided for a few weeks |
Hymen Restoration can be performed in women who wish to restore the hymen for cultural, religious, social or ethnic reasons immediately after the intercourse or much later.
The torn edges of the remaining hymen are brought together and sutured with dissolvable sutures. The hymen then grows back again to the same natural hymen as earlier. The surgery also gives a feeling of the tightness of the area.
If the hymenal remnants are not big enough to be used for the reconstruction, the surgeon will reduce the opening of the vagina using a small portion of the vaginal mucous tissue. During the first intercourse, there will be a small rupture of this newly reconstructed hymen that will be very similar to the rupture of a natural hymen.
You would be able to return to work the next day. You may notice some minor blood loss during the first 48-72 hours which is normal. You need to avoid strenuous activities like horse riding and sports for at least six weeks and then can resume your usual activities.
The newly constructed hymen would be the same as the original hymen and would break during the next intercourse as if you were a virgin.
