India has experienced gynecologists in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Gurugram and Faridabad who treat fibroids, endometriosis, gynecologic cancers, infertility and high-risk pregnancies. The best gynecologist in India for you depends on your condition and the treatment you need, whether that's minimally invasive surgery, fertility care or pregnancy care. If you're looking for a gynecologist abroad, IndiCure can arrange a video consultation with the specialist before you travel.
Each gynecologist below holds a postgraduate qualification in obstetrics and gynecology (MD, MS, DNB or equivalent) and a senior role at an accredited hospital. Many have additional fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery, gynecologic oncology, fetal medicine or fertility, in India or abroad.
Each has been assessed against our 15-Point Surgeon Selection Criteria, with links to official profiles so you can verify their credentials. We don't charge patients for recommendations, and no doctor or hospital is featured in exchange for a financial arrangement.

A laparoscopic myomectomy in India starts at about US$3,000.
| Procedure | Starting price (US$) |
|---|---|
| Laparoscopic myomectomy | 3,000 |
| Hysterectomy | 4,000 |
| IVF (one cycle) | 3,500 |
Prices as of October 2026. Starting prices only, not final bills.
The final cost depends on your condition, the type of surgery (laparoscopic or robotic), the hospital and the length of your hospital stay. For IVF, medicines and any additional cycles or frozen embryo transfers add to the cost.
A general gynecologist treats common conditions such as fibroids, cysts and menstrual problems, and looks after uncomplicated pregnancies. A high-risk pregnancy (maternal-fetal medicine) specialist is the right choice for conditions such as pre-eclampsia, recurrent pregnancy loss, or pregnancy with diabetes or autoimmune disease. A gynecologic oncologist is trained in cancer surgery and should be your first consultation for any suspected gynecologic cancer, because cancer outcomes depend strongly on the surgeon's specialist training and experience.
Both are minimally invasive and usually mean smaller cuts, less pain and a faster recovery than open surgery. Robotic surgery can help in complex cases, such as cancer surgery or severe endometriosis. For most benign procedures, studies haven't shown clearly better outcomes than standard laparoscopy, and robotic surgery usually costs more. The right choice depends on your condition and the surgeon's experience with each technique.
It depends on the size, number and position of the fibroids, your symptoms and whether you want to get pregnant in future. Options include medicines to control bleeding, myomectomy (removing the fibroids and keeping the uterus), hysterectomy (removing the uterus), and uterine fibroid embolization, a non-surgical procedure that blocks the fibroids' blood supply. Your gynecologist will review your ultrasound or MRI and explain which options suit you.
Possible risks include bleeding, infection, damage to nearby organs such as the bladder or bowel, blood clots, and reactions to anesthesia. Rarely, a laparoscopic operation needs to be converted to open surgery. Risks depend on the procedure, your health and any previous surgery. Your surgeon should explain the risks, benefits and alternatives for your case before you decide.
For laparoscopic hysterectomy or myomectomy, you'll usually spend one to three days in hospital, so plan on about 7 to 10 days in India. One IVF cycle usually needs about 3 to 4 weeks in India, covering ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval and embryo transfer. Your doctor will confirm when it's safe to fly home.
For planned surgery, the operation is often scheduled within a few days of arrival, once the gynecologist has examined you and pre-operative tests are complete. IVF follows your menstrual cycle, so the clinic will plan your arrival date around it. Share your reports and travel dates with IndiCure, and we'll arrange your first consultation as soon as possible after you land.
Foreign patients can have IVF at clinics registered under India's Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021. Sex selection is illegal in India. Under the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021, surrogacy isn't available to foreign nationals. Rules can change, so confirm current requirements with the clinic before you travel.
Yes. IndiCure arranges a video or telephone consultation with the gynecologist before you travel. Send your ultrasound or MRI reports, blood tests, Pap smear or biopsy results and details of any previous treatment, and the doctor will review them and discuss a preliminary plan. A video consultation can't replace an in-person examination, so your plan is confirmed after you're assessed in India.
Yes. International patients travel to India on a medical visa, and up to two family members can accompany you on medical attendant visas. You'll need a letter from the hospital confirming your treatment plan for the visa application. IndiCure can help with the hospital letter, visa guidance and accommodation near the hospital.
After surgery, you'll need wound care, rest and a gradual return to normal activity, usually over two to six weeks depending on the procedure. Carry your discharge summary, surgery details and any biopsy reports with you, and see a gynecologist near home for follow-up. IndiCure can arrange video follow-ups with your doctor in India.
Biopsy results for tissue removed during surgery usually take several days to a week or more. If your results aren’t ready before you fly home, the hospital can send them to you, and your doctor in India can discuss them with you by video.
