What is Body Lift Surgery?
A Body lift is a surgical procedure indicated in patients who have lost massive amounts of weight and have loose, redundant, hanging skin. It is generally the procedure of choice for patients who have undergone weight loss surgery. The procedure enhances the underlying tissue's shape and tone, which supports skin and fat.
Body Lift surgery thus helps improve a bumpy, uneven skin surface by removing extra sagging skin and fat.
The procedure is generally divided into a Lower and Upper Body Lift.
Lower Body Lift
A Lower Body Lift or belt lipectomy is a very powerful procedure that takes care of the entire "belt" area and addresses laxity of the skin of the belly, waist, and flanks including outer thighs, lower back, and buttocks.
This is a 360-degree surgery and a much more comprehensive procedure than a tummy tuck. A Lower Body lift takes care of the following areas:
- Abdomen, extending onto the flanks and lower back areas
- Buttocks
- Lateral Thighs
Upper Body Lift
A combined back lift, to remove fat rolls along the back, breast lift (or gynecomastia), and/ or upper arm lift are some of the procedures that make up an upper body lift.
A tighter, smoother body contour and an improved profile are the results of an upper body lift.
