Organ Transplant in India

Organ Transplantation Laws in India

Organ Transplant or Organ donation in India is strictly regulated by the Govt of India. The laws governing Organ donation or Organ transplant are very strict and prohibit any commercial transaction between the donor and the recipient of any organ. Only close or blood relatives (brother, sister, mother, father, children or spouse) can donate an organ to the patient.

A special permission from the Govt. has to be taken if an unrelated person wants to opt for organ donation. If the proposed donor or the recipient or both are foreigners and are seeking organ transplant operation in India, a senior Embassy official of the country of origin or the government of the country concerned (authenticated by the Embassy concerned in India) has to certify the relationship between the donor and the recipient.

Organ Transplantation Cost in India

The success rate after kidney or liver transplant in India is as good as the best hospitals in the world for liver transplant or kidney transplant. The cost of heart, pancreas, liver or kidney transplant in India is a fraction of what it costs to get an organ transplant in the West. For example, the Kidney transplant cost in India is around US $15,000 whereas the cost of kidney transplant in the US costs around $200,000.

Affordable cost and quality of services is what is driving more and more people to get organ transplants in India- the process popularly known as transplant tourism.

Our association with carefully chosen hospitals and surgeons for kidney, liver, bone marrow, pancreas, gall bladder and bone marrow transplants allow us to offer organ transplant to you at affordable prices.

What is Organ Transplant ?

Organ Transplantation is the process of removal of the healthy, live and well-functioning organ from the body and transferring or replacing the diseased or abnormal organ with it in the same or different body.

In simpler words, Organ transplant refers to the replacement of the non-functioning organ with the healthy and living organ from the donor which can be a living or dead person or a cadaver.

Organ donors can be alive or those who died recently due to brain or circulatory death. The majority of deceased donors are those who are declared brain dead. The term "brain dead" refers to the loss of brain function, which usually occurs after a traumatic or pathological brain damage, or when blood circulation to the brain is cut off.

Organ transplantation is a serious surgery with possible hazards, which patients seeking a transplant should be aware of. The possibility of organ rejection is the main reason why organ transplantation is dangerous. Before deciding on an organ transplant, it is critical that you obtain all relevant information and discuss with your doctor.

Patient Testimonials

  • It is my pleasure to write for IndiCure, since I owe my life to you people. The kind of facilities available here in India are no less than what are available in Western countries. I was told that I should go to the USA for my Bone Marrow Transplant, but the cost there was so very high that I could not afford to get the treatment done there. But only IndiCure made it possible for me to be treated here. They convinced me of the facilities and Dr Bhargava's expertise and actually delivered what they promised.

I would highly recommend IndiCure and India to anybody looking for medical treatment.

Mohd. Kaif ( Dubai, UAE )

Procedure : Bone Marrow Transplant surgery

  • My Liver transplant surgery in India has given me a second life. I had completely lost all my hopes but Shweta and IndiCure have been very helpful and arranged everything so well for me. Dr Rai is the best surgeon I have ever met. I really thank them all.

Salem Shaikh ( Muscat, Oman )

Keith Davidson ( Vancouver, Canada )

  • The IndiCure folks hooked me up with THE BEST doctors for my heart issues.. Period.. The physicians were thorough, professional, fast, proficient, and affordable. Dealing with IndiCure was super easy, super-fast, and a very pleasant experience. I HIGHLY recommend this process for those with no insurance Or those who cannot afford the 20% co-pay for expensive procedures. Check the cost against prices in the USA folks.
